Features

UNTIDE, one of the new breed of large New England daysailers, is French & Webb’s take on this popular genre. Styled with traditional lines and built of modern composite wood construction, the FW37 rises to the top of the fleet in beauty, performance, and comfort. The lean hull shape with balanced ends defines fast, responsive performance combined with great looks. Stability derives from a 4,400 pound fin keel balancing a 46′ carbon fiber rig. Easily handled, the fully battened main is boom furled and the self-tacking headsail insures ease of handling performance. The classic cockpit was designed for total comfort and can be enjoyed for single-handed sailing or with a full complement of friends. The spacious interior combines soft whites and satin teak woodwork. The aft galley opens to sofa-like midship settees. There is a full beamed private head with shower and a forward V-berth for the occasional overnight cruise.

Construction

The FW37 is designed for minimal maintenance. The composite wood hull is epoxy laminated of four layers of fir, red cedar, and mahogany that is encapsulated in structural E-glass. The skin is reinforced on laminated ribs and backbone. Visible to the interior is a  large structural ring frame that transfers rig loads to the keel. The underbody sports a fin keel ballast with separated carbon rudder assembly. Propulsion is an efficient Volvo diesel with a sail drive and Gori folding prop. The decks are sprung teak on a composite substrate. Cabin and cockpits are varnished teak. Natural light floods the interior from deck hatches and large tempered glass panels set in the cabin sides. The cabin sole is scrubbed teak growing into color matched teak cabinetry and white upper bulkheads and overhead.
